First Tripura FPOs Meet Held in Bagma to Strengthen Farmer Collaboration

Agartala, May 06. In a significant step toward strengthening farmer collectives in the state, the first Tripura FPOs Meet was organized on 6th May 2025 by the Bharat FPO Confederation, with support from Bagma Agri Producer Company Limited (BAPCL). The event took place at the conference hall of the BAPCL Head Office in Bagma and brought together 35 participants from various Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) across Tripura.

Key dignitaries present included Jitendra Majumder, MLA of Kakrabon; Sudip Majumder, Managing Director of BAPCL; Dr. Farukul Islam, CEO of BAPCL; and Jyoty Dey, FPO Development Lead at Bharat FPO Confederation, who attended as the Chief Guest.

In her address, Jyoty Dey highlighted the importance of empowering farmers through business development strategies tailored for FPOs. She presented a comprehensive support model focusing on market exposure, capacity building, and improved access to finance. Dey also advocated for the creation of a unified platform to enhance FPO-to-FPO linkages across Tripura, encouraging joint income-generating activities.

The event marked a promising beginning for fostering stronger collaboration among FPOs in the state and laid the groundwork for future farmer-oriented initiatives
