Ganja worth Rs 4 crore seized, two arrested

In a major Ganja haul, police seized a huge quantity of cannabis after a long interval. The estimated value of the recovered contraband is between Rs 3.5 to 4 crore. According to sources, the incident took place around 10:30 AM on Monday when a truck bearing registration number UP58AT/1128, heading towards Assam, was stopped in front of Churaibari Police Station for routine checking. Upon inspection, the police found 960 kilograms of dry cannabis hidden inside ten electric transformers loaded on the truck. The cannabis was packed in 96 packets.The operation was carried out in the presence of the Sub-Divisional Police Officer and the Superintendent of Police.The truck driver, Awadhesh Kumar, and co-driver, Pramod Kumar, both hailing from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh, have been arrested. A case has been registered against them under the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway. The arrested individuals will be produced before the court on Tuesday.
